This has been a strange Christmas Eve...a strange holiday season, for that matter. It's empty and almost meaningless in light of all the other stuff going on in my life. It feels sad and lonely.
Fortunately, I have the ability to start my day over at any point of any day. And I've tried to start my day over several times in the past month or so.
I heard someone say in a meeting that Christmas used to be all about disappointment because of unfulfilled HIGH expectations of that day. Now, after several years in the program, she said Christmas is just another day. She celebrates it for the reason that it came to be in the first place, but she also knows that it really is just another day.
If she needs to talk to someone when family chaos abounds, then she can pick up the phone and be connected to someone in an instant. She can also go to a meeting, even on Christmas Day.
It's good for me to remember this today and for tomorrow, too.
It's just another day.
