Facebook wannabes popping up everywhere

I have figured out why playlist.com has an "unresolved issue with Facebook" that, within the last month, has prevented users from posting their playlists (created from their playlist.com accounts). Today, I realized why:  the new user interface for playlist.com is very similar, feature-wise, to Facebook's.

Sadly, though, playlist.com launched their new user interface before they really tweaked it to perfection.  Because of that, they will "click off" users because of it's sheer "busy-ness", lack of an obvious "Help" section, and navigation pitfalls.

Why can't sites stick to what they do best, what made them great in the first place?
