Grateful for the Unimportant Things

Gratitude isn't just about the big things, people, events in my life. It's about the small, almost inconsequential stuff, too.

Yesterday, I saw a bird perched on the grass near the sidewalk. I wondered to myself why it ws just perched there that way, on the grass, as if waiting for friends to arrive.

I folded/hung a load of laundry today while watching the Westminster Dog Show.

I didn't run into any traffic on the way home from work.

Someone commented on how pretty I looked today, and I didn't even have makeup on!

I went to sleep listening to the wind howling last night and awoke to a gushing roar of a fleeting downpour of rain.

On really good days, gratitude-filled days, even the unimportant, almost trivial stuff in life seems to be larger than life. I relish that stuff just as much as the bigger stuff because when I think about gratitude, even the most minuscule things can be joyful without having a big impact on my life. It's all in how I'm looking at the world at that very moment.
